Being In Awe Inspires Leadership
Thoughts on Awe…
"If you’re not in awe, you’re not paying attention.” Mary Oliver
The world is a miraculous place. There are marvels at every turn. Whether it be watching a hummingbird feed from a flower, the smile of an infant or a universal TV remote, there are wonders in view all of the time. To see them requires a person to be present, open, and connected. To appreciate them requires, a sense of wonder, humility, and gratitude. Doing so can turn a normal day into a seemingly magical wonderland. As for me, I’m in awe most of the time. At this moment I’m in awe of how a color printer works, as well as the juicy-ness of a fresh summer peach. Don’t get me started…I could go on:)
World-class leaders view the world with a sense of awe and gratitude. Followed closely by a quest to discover and learn. This is a contagious energy that can ripple through a team and a business inspiring creativity and a culture that invites appreciation and gratitude. It ultimately creates a safe environment where team members will step into leadership and share more of themselves and big ideas. Who doesn’t want to invest in a team or business that oozes gratitude and appreciation.
